Passer (king) Angelfish

Hello,

I recently purchased a passer angel. When i got him his colors seemed a little faded. I was told they will color up once he adjusts. It has been a week and this guy will not eat. Any suggestions. I have tried formula 2 large flakes, frozen shrimp, freez dried krill, Mynescus. He swims up to the food but will not eat.

I do not want to loose this fish. What should I try next. local fish store says treat tank with coppersafe as he probabally has some parasite that is making him not want to eat. I dosed with 1/2 the recommended dosage tonght and figure I will dose the rest in a day or two.

also check your water. some fish are more sensitive then others.
check nitrates ph, ammonia, nitrites, salinity temp

Angel Update

HOws the Angel doing? I hope its OK. IT's very important to review your fish at the store before purchasing especially Angels and tangs as they go through a serious stress in shipping. I usually ask the store person to feed the fish in front of me before I buy it. You can try adding the Garlic additive sold in the local aquarium supplier to their food. Sometimes it works

angel fish

I always ask the lps to feed any fish that is more then a couple of dollars
If theyrefuse or tell you they just fed them do not buy that fish
it is not uncommon for some fish to get stressed when shipped and stop eating.

Thats the best way to see how the fish have shipped. Also, DO NOT add what I cll sale water to you tank.. Acclimate the fish and remove them from the water and net place them into the tank. I just started using small tupperware containiers to add them into my tank. Work great and does wonders for coral without net stress

i never put anybody else water in my tank for 2 reasons
1 fish get stress and releave themselfs, which cause the ammonia to rise
wh y put that in your tank?
2 how do you know how the water is from even your friend or local pet store.
better safe then sorry
that is why u should quaratine all fish
