You would be more than welcome to borrow my female, she was LFS that i rescued from my niece. Funny, those xmas fulus i can't tell. I think one or two might be starting to show male breeding colors.:banghead:

robertprice August 12th, 2014 12:05 AM

I would borrow a female, but you can never guarantee it's safety, escpecially off season.

dsuperman August 12th, 2014 07:55 PM

Understandable ,of course. I like her ,like all fish but i favor smaller fish.No guarantees needed,no strings attached if you want to borrow her.

robertprice August 13th, 2014 09:09 AM

Black Flowerhorn lLkes New Female

So far my Black Flowerhorn is being very receptive to Denis' female. They are dancing occasionally.

dsuperman August 21st, 2014 11:15 AM

Thats encouraging, Elcue is vying for the "Gary Kremen" award at the next meeting.:chuckle: My dad always said: "No man over forty should be allowed to dance!"

Very nice. Good luck. I recommend frozen bloodworms and a nice merlot . I was wondering what happened when you guys took this romance off forum. I think protocol dictates that I get pick of the litter...:rofl2:

The Black Flowerhorn Male now has a mate who is getting along very well with him and they are dancing sporadically. The female has a dark Zhen Zhou pattern, but is polychromatic and can turn 90% black almost instantaneously. The male's breeding color changes from nearly solid black to the "Grey Thunder" pattern of alternating charcoal grey and black body bands, and gets a red-violet face, but no where near the extent of a Red Dragon morph.

:D

dsuperman August 21st, 2014 06:29 PM

Somebody say "pics?" http://youtu.be/_wFaXD_USBQ?list=UUe...YQubeVZiS6fkOg

I agree, but a don't own a video recorder, and they are black in a tank with black gravel and background. The new female has quite an appetite for Blackworms, which i've seldom seen in good sized Flowerhorns.

elcue September 10th, 2014 06:56 PM

But what about the romance? Are they getting along?

robertprice September 11th, 2014 10:04 AM

They hang out near each other, but aren't dancing or digging. I really don't expect more until early Spring as the female needs to regenerate her lost eggs, and most Flowerhorns don't really get into it until March.
