How hard is it to bred red cherry shrimp?

They are extremely prolific and don't require much intervention on your part besides regular tank maintenance.

I agree, I just put them in my planted tank, and they did the rest.

If you think Cherry Shrimp are easy you should try green or ghost shrimp all you need is water they'll do the rest.

I had a lot of trouble getting my colony started. But finally after the 4th time I hit success. I used a 5 gal. tank that had fish in it and was running for about 4 months. I removed the fish but left the box filter and Java Moss. I added 10 shrimp that I won at a MAKA meeting and two almond leaves. I am feeding Hikari Algae wafers and Shrimp food. I make a small water change once a week using using water from a Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Tap Water Filter. In about a month my population has tripled and I have a bunch of berried females. I an now going to try some Crystal Reds.
P.S. There are two things to watch out about when starting a colony one is that you need a cycled tank and two is that there is no copper in the foods you feed.

I have had great success breeding the Cherry Shrimp using the conditions below. But you have to cull constantly or they will overpopulate and crash (it has happened twice). I have started to feed some off to my fish who love them. to keep the population under control and keep the colony going.This also gives you the chance to only use the shrimp with the best colors for breeding.:crayfish:
