AFISH and NEC

Can anyone explain "What is AFISH". Is it Fresh Water, Salt Water, a society or group of societies? What is the advantage of joining it? Who comprises the membership? Are the memberships by group or individual? Does it have a newsletter? What is it's charter? etc. Ditto for NEC? :)

What AFISH & NEC are

AFISH stands for Aquarium Federation of Independent Societies & Hobbyists which comprises of 4 local NYC clubs. Brooklyn, Greater City, nassau County and Long Island AS. The object is to have multi clubs get together and help each other by having a large convention. The goal is having multiple clubs work together and bring awareness of the hobby to many more people. Another main goal is the CARES program for endangered aquatic species. Many species are on the brink of extinction and we are trying to save these various species by having them raised and bred in hobbyists aquariums and to share this with other hobbyists.
The NEC stands for the Northeast Council which is a group of people from many different aquarium societies to combine efforts and better awareness of the aquarium hobby and what it offers to individuals and families.

Hope this helped.

Joe
