You do not have to *** them. Just throw 3-5 in a tank and one will become a female. They are all born males and one in every group will turn in to a female. If that female dies another will take over. The fish that turn to a female will become larger and more full bodyed. Pretty cool right.
As far as the difference between perculas and ocelaris clowns the black border is the only difference. It is very common for them to be sold wrong. Most will be labeled as perculas, but are not. Perculas get a nice thick black line between there orange colors. The ocelaris are a fine thin line of black. Not that there is a big difference anyway. They are both very pretty fish, but true perculas are more expensive. Try to buy tank raised, they are more durable and help limit fish caught in the wild always a good thing. They might be a little more expensive, but worth it.
