Cichlid profiles- Cichlasoma paranaense
This species was recently described by Kullander in 1983. It is a small (4 inch) drab cichlid with a horizontal bar from eye to tail and a black blotch midbody under the dorsal fin and a small upper caudal peduncle ocellus. The ground color is grey with greenish pectoral fins. It comes from the Piranas River Basin in Brazil, so we can assume it lives in about 80 degree water. It looks like C. dimerus. Pictures at "Cichlasoma paranaense."
This species needs an entire wild and captive workup, and is not likely to be fan fav regardless.
