Default Cichlid Profiles - Cichlasoma orientale

This newly discovered fish is an oval drab resident of mud and gravel stream bottoms in the Rivers Ceara, Pernambuco, Rio Grande de Norte and Paraiba on the Atlantic Coast of Brazil. It has both off white and dark gray scales, making the ground color look medium gray. It has green-yellow pectoral and pelvic fins, and an ocellus on the upper caudal penduncle that then extends up the midbody as as splotchy stripe that ends at the gill cover. They get 5-6 inches long, like pH 6.5-7, and water about 80 degrees.. More needs to be found out about them. Pictures available at "Images of Cichlasoma orientale."
