Shipping Fish In Hot Weather
Hobbyists and professionals who ship fish generally agree that Summer is the most stressful time for shipping fish. Does anyone know if there is anything you can put in the shipping water that will keep the Oxygen level high if the water warms up in hot weather? To the best of my knowledge, the warmer the water the less oxygen it holds. In addition, is there anything that you can add to the water to keep the ammonia levels lower in the shipping bag that won't create a problem with the pH.

Yes rdebonis, warmer water= less oxygen. Ship in insulated containers with cooling packs and you should be good to go. As far as adding anything to the water, well, I've seen some tablets that you can add to the water that would calm the fish and increase oxygen, but don't remember where I've see those. Maybe AES.

Is there a website that sells cold packs specifically for shipping live Tropical Fish? I found an interesting article about shipping fish on the web at this address http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/...ThemThere.html
