Default Unknown inhabitant

Someone, a relative, asked me/us that they have an unidentified inhabitant in their saltwater tank. It was described as follows:
Blue snakelike with white eyes, about six inches long. It came out of the live rock and hasn't been seen again.
We were to their house for a week and did not see anything like that at all. Can someone identify this and course of action to be taken?
