Default African Pike Characin in NYC

African Pikes have begun to turn up in NYC. This medium sized predator can get a foot and half long, but usually stays much smaller in aquaria. It is an inhabitant of ponds, swamps and marshes where it hunts in marginal vegetation, but keeps away from Tiger fish territory as Tiger fish eat them.

They are suitable to be kept individually, in small groups of roughly the same size or in community tanks of large fish. They need a 70 gallon tank when full grown.
