Default Banana Fusilier NOT!

After some painstaking research, I have determined that the two strange marine fish I purchased at the April auction are not Banana Fusiliers, but are actually small Banana Fish or Blue and Yellow Sea Breams (Pentapodus caninus). These pelagic schooling fish native to oceans and seas near north Australia are reef safe when young (mine are 2.5 inches) and reach a foot in length, at which time they require about 100 gallons of tank and may eat smaller fish and invertebrates.

They are eating well, and are listed as planktivores and carnivores, with an easy care level and generally spunky personality. They become semi-aggressive when mature. They do look a little like Fusiliers, and are roughly the same elongate shape, but their color pattern of two thick yellow body stripes and yellow head are distinctive.
