![]() hello everybody,,i have java fern planted with the rizome exposed above the gravel ,the problem is that the leaves are turning black and the new leaves are rotting off the plant .there are new plantlets on some of the leaves,, any suggestions? .also when i plant watersprite they dont root instead they rot below the gravel then float to the top?thanks john fox ps these are in a guppy tank

![]() i have this plant approx 3months in a 29 gal set up for guppys with regular gravel ,the light is on a timer 12 hrs on,, the ph is around 7.0,there are small snails in the tank the water is crystal clear thanks 4 the reply

![]() The Java fern might lacking nutrients. If its growing under high light conditions and competing with a fast growing plant, it could have problems.
Odd thing about the water sprite though. They always have roots before coming off of the mother plant. (I have to trim some of the roots to plant it neatly.)
