Default Breeding killiefish

Pseudepiplatys annulatus, the "Clown killie" is an odd and beautiful fish. Breeding them is relatively easy. Set up a 2 1/2 or 5 gallon aquarium with neutral pH and plenty of java moss. The pair of killies will lay the eggs in the java moss. The eggs are too small to use artificial mops. The parents wont eat the eggs or the fry.

Use of rotifers and extremly tiny powder food such as artemia or the smallest of the Golden Pearls" for the first week or two, after that they should be large enough to take baby brine shrimp. With baby brine shrimp the growth rate excelerates. The one thing I would recommend is that you separate the larger fry from the tank and place them in a separate tank with the same water conditions as the parent tank. the reason for this is the larger siblings eat the smaller ones. When they are older they will eat anything - tiny pellet food, crushed flakes, cut up live or frozen blood worms, etc.

These fish look great in a planted tank where their full, colors can stand out. Enjoy them!
