Default Cichlid Profiles- Amphilophus atifroms

This is another poorly studied Central Anerican cichlid native to fat miving streams and rivulets of Western Costa Rica and the Chiriqui River of Panama. It is either yellow brown or yellow-orange in ground color, with 7-8 indistinct vertical stripes and a very large red and blue tinged mouth. It may have iridescent green spots scattered over the body. It is an very vicious omnivore which likes pH of 7 to 7.5 and temperatures in the high seventies. It gets 5-8 inches long. It is an aquarium oddity and not suitable for community tanks. It has no common name. See pictures of Amphilophus altifrons.
