Default Live rock on Craigs List

I saw somebody selling live rock on Craigs List very cheap, I was interested in some 50 lbs but am not sure how can I transport it. How long can the rocks be without the water before the stuff on it dies. If it takes 2-3 hours to bring it home, would i be ok or would i have to go through a long cycling process.

Default live rock

2 to 3 hours is fine just keep it wet. Wrap it in wet news paper, and it will be fine.
I usually bring a bucket I can put some water in, and wrap it.
Remember to smell the rock before buying it, it should smell like sea water not foul.
If it smells foul or rotten it is not fully cured, do not put that in your tank.
It would then have to be cured.
