Default Cichlid Profiles - Cichlasoma zarskei

Just discovered in 2011, this 5 inch fish is very closely related to C. orientale but has a bolder midbody line especially in the posterior region, 8 bolder vertical stripes, and wine colored fins with white spots on the tail. It has 2 blotches on the caudal peduncle. Found in the Maranhao River of nothern Brazil. Pictures at 'Images of Cichlasoma zarskei."
