C.B.S. are reef safe, and very animated. They will come right to the top and feed once them become adjust to the tank. They are a nice bright color usually red and white. The only thing witrh them is they will fight with other shrimp, including other c.b.s. So one shrimp per tank unless they are a mated pair.

yep they are only to be kept as singel specimen per tank or as a mated pair, anything else and the C.B.S is the only one to survive.

these guys are pretty, too bad they can't cohabitate with other shrimp. A combination of skunk, blood and CBS would be fantastic.

that's not the norm, if they are hungry enough they will go after the other shrimp.
This also depends on the size of the tank, and the amount of hidding places in the tank. |

Pick up a copy of the July/August Issue of Reef Life Magazine (Volume 1, Number 2).
Page 14 - 25 is an article about CBS - everything you need to know. |

coral banded shrimp
I have had a pair of banded coral shrimp for about 6 months now and they bred. The female has a pouch full of green eggs. Has anyone bred them successfully? Any advice?

Cleaner Shrimp that may help: I put up a post a while ago, asking how to breed candy striped cleaner shrimp (A yellowish shrimp with two red lines bordering a white stripe extending across its back). I had noticed the shrimp I had was ripe with white eggs. I read that the shrimp was hermaphroditic, so I put another similar sized cleaner shrimp in with it hoping they would mate. Within a week, the first shrimp was carrying green (fertilized) eggs. The next week, it seemed to be scattering the eggs around the tank. In this time, the other shrimp had also developed a sack of eggs. A week later, last night, hundreds of 5mm (and smaller) transparent shrimp were swimming around the tank. The larger shrimp had similar body forms to the parents. I didn't collect any of the young this time, but I am thinking of setting up a small rearing tank soon since the parent shrimp look ready again. That's all I have!

These guys are great, if only they stayed on top of the rocks. I barely see mine and if I do it's at night when I go hunting with a flash light

I get to the egg stages but I don't think you can breed them in a reef tank. If one was to setup a separate tank with a sponge filter it would probably be possible to breed them. To newbies: These shrimp are very aggressive towards their own species so if you plan to breed them make sure you buy a mater pair. They are sold as such all over the place.
