Amphilophus diquis

This apparently close relative of the Red Spotted Cichlid lives in different rivers on the West Coast of Panama. There is barely enough information available for a proper description, and most is based on the type specimens. it is smaller and lighter in color than the Red Spotted Cichlid and lacks the red spots. Otherwise it is similar in shape and general markings. It lives in moderate current on rocky sandy bottoms and eats insects, seeds and detritus. Thusfar the largest specimen is only 5+ inches long.
