As I mentioned at the dinner yesterday. I have a soil and sand substrate. I regular add potassium to the water at least twice a week and prune plants that hit the surface. This has given me great root structure. Major grower of Cabomba and Amazon Swords.
Just started using root caps I got from aa guy online. Still testing.

lawn dirt
The issue with lawn soil is the stray stuff found in it thst you don't expect. Pollutants, fertilizer etc.

My trick is to place the heater under the filter to keep the tank evenly heated. Keep lighting on the light side as that tank is pretty small. Good experiment
